Comparison of audio quality smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone 5

Today I will drive foreheads Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3. Of course, I bought both companies (and Nokia), I completely deaf and did not understand anything at all - this is obvious, and in the comments you can not write.
So. I will first talk about something that is not in the text. There will be no "objective" measurements RMAA, because they practically do not say anything about the sound.Specifically, they say that the device A on the test signal is different from device B. This, unfortunately, useful information ends.
It will not be long and persistent comparisons on hundreds of different headphones. For a simple reason - I use in everyday life, or test headphones, or your favorite Ultimate Ears UE11PRO.
There will be a lengthy description of sound instruments on different tracks. Here, I wish myself and you, dear readers - less text will scroll.
Still will not focus groups, and all because I was too lazy to organize them. Can throw rotten tomatoes - but the focus groups will not, as a tester, I will speak personally.

Now - what will be. And be on the subjective testing methodology. For a start - what parameters are taken into account.
  1. Subjective evenness response - how the device is universal in its approach to sound reproduction
  2. Quality of study frequency ranges: LF (low frequency), MF (medium frequency), HF (high frequency).
  3. Detail - how well the device to deal with complex compositions
  4. Attack - how well the amplifier unit to cope with a rapid increase in the volume
  5. Dynamic range - how well the device works off playing as quiet and loud sounds
  6. Quality stereo - how well the tools are arranged in a head
  7. Amplifier noise - noise amplifier
  8. Comfortable volume - the volume at which the listening to your favorite music
It should be noted that most of the items is not important for the owners of inexpensive headphones, it is only important item 7 - because if you want to listen to cheap "earbuds" without noise insulation in the subway, you need a large supply volume.
The assessment will be made using points, where 0 - as terrible result, and 5 - excellent, high-level players. Thus, the device can score from 0 to 50 points.
Used to compare test disc Prime Test CD1 and headphones Ultimate Ears UE11PRO .
Here we go.
1. Subjective response flatness .
No S3, no iPhone 5 are not "flat" on the sound reproduction devices. Smartphone from Samsung has a strong focus on low frequencies, and the device from Apple - high.
Both units are 3 points.
2. Quality study of the frequency bands (LF, MF, HF) .
The iPhone 5 LF transferred well, there are just a buzz on some recordings. Mids transferred very efficiently. High frequencies are dirty - because of the emphasis on them, but it is not fatal. Points, respectively, 4, 4.5, 4.
In Samsung Galaxy S3 bass drone - as raised, and this leads to the fact that the average frequency biased (although they played quite naturally). High frequencies are not transparent, leaving shortages. Credit situation is as follows: 3.5, 4, 3.
3. Detail - how well the device to deal with complex compositions .
Both devices like "grease" songs with a great set of tools, sophisticated parties, fast game - but the iPhone 5 is slightly better at the expense of a reasonable level of bass, for which he receives 3.5 points, and S3 only 3.
4. Attack - how well the amplifier unit to cope with a rapid increase in volume .
It just broke forward Galaxy S3, but midrange and treble range. Therefore Galaxy S3 receives 3.5 points, and iPhone 5 - 3.
5. Dynamic range - how well the device works off playing as quiet and loud sounds .
Both devices are on a par, the dynamic range is preloaded - and all for the best playback simple records on inexpensive headphones. By exactly three points.
6. Quality stereo - how well the head lining up tools .
Both devices are building is not much quality, but large enough soundstage subjectively slightly over and above the head. For quality - 3, by volume - 4, on average - 3.5, and are estimates.
7. Noise amplifier .
When listening to music iPhone 5 does not add noise amplifier, and it is not easy to connect the headphones. In short, perfect.
And here at the Galaxy S3 is heard a slight noise amplifier, it is not annoying in most cases - as even soft music drowns him, but he is - so 4 points.
8. Comfortable volume - the volume at which the listening to your music .
Both devices comfortable listening volume is achieved at half the scale, this is a good result - for most of the gags and many overhead headphone amplifier power enough.Honest five points, portable source of great and not necessary.

As can be seen, the flagship of Apple in almost all parameters (I'm talking about the sound reproduction) is on par with Samsung Galaxy S3, if the difference is - it is almost always in favor of the iPhone 5.
If I add to compare other devices from Apple - then S3 would be on a par with the iPhone 4s and iPhone 4, and all of these devices would be a bit worse than the Nokia Lumia 920 (yes, you heard right, Nokia made another interesting the sound of a smartphone). However, I believe that the comparison is especially relevant and popular devices - and S3 and the iPhone 5 just like that.
If you take the five-point scale, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the previous version of the iPhone gaining 3.5 points, and the iPhone 5 and the Lumia 920 - for 4. So we can say that modern smartphones are slowly approaching the level of high-quality portable (which gets 4.5-5 points).
