An epidemic of measles erupted in upper Sindh areas in last week of December 2012. Hyderabad,Tehsil Saleh Pat, Sangi and Sultanpur became the affected areas and a number of casualties were reported through print media,said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued here on Tuesday.
It said that the Pakistan Army decided to establish free medical camps in the affected areas to assist the people.
Quick response teams of medical experts were immediately dispatched to carry out vaccination for measles and provision of general medical facilities to people of affected areas on emergency basis, the ISPR statement added.
It said that approximately 2,500 children were provided with vaccination and above 4,000 patients were also treated for different other diseases.
